Why a campfire reboot? For one, it solved a problem. Everybody was staring at their phones and nobody was coming out to the campfire talks at Campfire Park. Cowboy gets it: Campfire Park is remote, You have to drive through a stream, there's a puzzling fork in the road, the list goes on. But that doesn't mean the campfire tradition doesn't carry on. That's when Cowboy had the bright idea to drop a campfire kit of logs and kindling to peoples driveways at dusk, just like they do with the newspaper in the morning. After thinking it over more around the campfire, Cowboy had the idea of delivering the campfire talks directly by phone. And thus was born the "campfire reboot."
The great thing about the reboot, it's just not Cowboy. He has a whole team of hosts, or sometimes its just him, or other times a stranger stops by.
Do you have a fear of being squeezed to death by a giant Burmese Python? Or does being followed around all day by a Florida Panther rattle your nerves? If so, join Rusty, a well meaning but – how shall we say – “often distracted” park ranger who is scheduled to give an evening talk in a swamp preserve on a topic he doesn’t much like. Not to worry (or maybe worry a lot) as the unwitting ranger meets a mysterious stranger who catapults him on a breathtaking journey to confront and maybe finally answer the deepest and most confounding question of his life. That is assuming he can ever get done (or to) his campfire talk …
Well, that’s just the thing. Looks are the least of your worries. The most important characteristic is how it feels. In that regard, it just has to be comfortable. But not too comfortable. Otherwise you’ll fall asleep. Then again, sometimes that’s exactly why you go for a particular chair. Chairs with more cushions are generally better for sleeping and kitchen chairs made of wood are better for staying awake. That’s a general rule of life, but also one that isn’t full proof. Just the other day I fell asleep at the kitchen table for example. Other times I’ve stayed awake in a very soft chair. In general, one attribute of a good campfire chair is being able to carry it to the campfire. That goes a long way to explaining why sofas and other heavy comforter chairs are not frequently seen around the campfire ring.

Welcome to Campfire Park where the campfire’s always cracklin’ and visitors are always welcome. And most of all, where the Cowboy at the Campfire is waiting patiently, and always with a story to tell. Who exactly is the Cowboy at the Campfire? Let’s just say that he has a way about himself. He’s never too rushed, and inquisitive, but never nosey. And yes, he always has a story to tell.

The Cowboy a the Campfire does his best to explain. Common mistakes: burning marshmallows is always a scourge. Then on the other hand sitting too far away doesn’t work either. The trick? Finding just the right distance. And the ingredients matter, too. For example, pepperoni usually isn’t a good match, although regionally it is a delicacy in some parts. S’mores really are less about the taste and more about the memory … and the hope you don’t burn the top of your mouth.
